Bio
Miki Hickel has a lifetime of experience as an artist, and fifteen years of experience as a designer. She lives for a creative challenge and thrives when she is delivering images, websites, messaging, and art that exceed her clients needs and desires.
Miki earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and a Master’s degree in Communications (with a concentration in New Media and Marketing). Marketing and design are areas Miki truly loves. The work she does has been the best way to combine her education, experience as an artist, and the technical skills of a designer.
Most recently, Miki worked for a small promotional items company in Winston-Salem, NC. Her main duties were polishing their brand, producing their catalog, designing a brand new website, and developing an email marketing program. Before that, she was the Creative Director for a small, start-up, marketing company in Ogden, Utah. She lead a team of creative people and shaped the direction of the company itself with her unique design and messaging. Her work for the San Antonio based company, NewTek, can be seen on their website, Variety.com, in Streaming Media Magazine (August/September 2012) and at NAB. You can see some of her illustration work in Arthur Shapiro’s book Inside the Bottle as well as several zines and in Zine World #25. She volunteers her time as the Director of Communications for Women in Horror Month (WiHM) – a month-long, international celebration of women in the horror industry and its sister organization the Ax Wound Film Festival (AWFF). MovieMaker Magazine selected AWFF as one of the top 30 horror film festivals in the world for 2019.
